I ended up writing a novel that summer because I wouldn’t go in the water. I locked myself in the den and wrote a book.” She stares at me, wide-eyed. “When I was fourteen.” She laughs. “Because of a shark!” — Sure, Taylor Swift. (Also: “I love Karlie Kloss. I want to bake cookies with her.” And “I look back and I think about Kris Kristofferson.” The whole thing, really.)
